- The `N1' (First Name) gadget can be used in conjunction with the raw
- sysex data display to define the first and last characters of the first
- Name in the sysex data. Some sysex files do not contain Names. Banks
- contain more than one Name. The `N1' gadget is concerned with high-
- lighting the very first Name in a Bank, or the one and only Name in
- those files that do happen to contain a Name.
-
- First, if the data from your synth is NOT in the `Standard Format', use
- the KEYBOARD gadget to convert it.
-
- Click the left mouse button while pointing over the `N1' gadget. The
- pointer will change and the prompt "Name 1 START ==>" will appear.
- The program is waiting for you to highlight the first character of
- the first (or only) Name in the sysex file.
-
- Hold down the left mouse button while you are pointing over the sysex
- file. As you move the mouse, the current offset will display. Release
- the mouse button when you are over the first character of the first
- Name. It should be easy to find the Name if you look at the ASCII side
- of the window.
-
- The prompt "Name 1 STOP ==>" will appear. The program is waiting for
- you to highlight the last character of that Name.
-
- The `Ch', `D', `N2' and `Ck' gadgets allow you to highlight different
- components of the sysex data. Once highlighted, you can click on the
- various `Question Marks' located in the window. Each time you click
- on a `Question Mark', its associated string gadgets will be updated
- with offsets and counts based on the highlighted fields.
